Remember VUXHOY!

Solving Linear Equations with Variables on Both Sides

Alrighty!  I got something to work for us!

Below you will find the link to Solve Linear Equations with Variables on both sides directly to the KhanAcademy site.  Hint: Click the lime green link :)

Directions:

  1. Watch the first 3 videos for review.  I understand that some of us are more advanced at solving these equations, but the more experience and practice you have, the quicker you'll master it!
  2. Do at least 3 examples (obviously to get some type of mastery, you have to get 3 correct in a row).  You must bring your examples to class!
  3. Watch the next 2 videos.  They include decimals and fractions, so I'm sure you'll love them :)
  4. Next, do at least 3 examples.  You must bring your examples to class!
  5. Lastly, do the challenging problem video!  You never know what you'll see on your EOC or upcoming Maths :)

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Welcome to the T. Wingate High School, home of the Mighty Red Raiders. My name is Ms. Taylor and it is a pleasure to be teaching your child this year.

I have planned an exciting set of activities to aid your child in becoming a master of the math curriculum. During the school year, we will be using various hands-on activities, projects and computer software to supplement and enhance the learning experience. Before we can successfully educate your child; there will need to be a partnership between parents, teachers and the student. So I will be calling on you to aid me in this journey with your child.

With this in mind, here are some of the things your child will need to be successful in math this year:
v  His or her self-determination to learn and succeed
v  Your support
v  Graphing Calculator (to be used at home)
v  Highlighters
v  (1) 3-Subject Notebook with Folders OR (1) 3-Subject Notebook and (2) 2 Pocket Folders

NEEDED BY FRIDAY OF FIRST WEEK OF COURSE!!

If you ever have any questions concerning your child, feel free to contact me at the above phone number or email address. Please remember that early intervention is the best approach. Tutorial will be offered after school. I encourage you to send your child to tutorial often to enhance material presented in class.

To make this adventure excellent, I have attached a Question/Comment area for your input.  This area can include preferred seating for your child, preferred method of contact, or any advice on helping your child succeed in this course.  Feel free to include an email or phone number for receipt that I received your request.

I look forward to working with both you and your child as we take this journey together.

Sincerely,

Ms. Taylor
